The Community Process

The Historic Neighbourhoods Strategy is a community-driven process. A Community Committee has been organized with representation from each participating neighbourhood in order to guide the project. Committee Members will ensure representatives from all neighbourhoods are included in every meeting.

Some members were part of the initial Working Group that assisted in creating the work program for this initiative during the summer of 2008. Others, upon hearing about the Strategy, have joined the Committee more recently.

The Committee is supported by full-time City staff and interested City Councillors as well as a communications and outreach consultant.

All residents are encouraged to Get Involved in the Strategy process. Opportunities to participate will include surveys, events, forums, open houses and much more. A newsletter will be emailed and posted on the project website to keep residents informed, enabling them to get connected and get involved.

Your Community Committee Members

If you would like to contact a member of the Community Committee, please send them an email at: hnscommunitycommittee@barrie.ca

The Community Committee members are residents of the Historic Neighbourhoods. In fact, several representatives from each neighbourhood serve on the Community Committee to build the Historic Neighbourhoods Strategy from the ground-up. Staff support for the Committee members is provided through Stacey Forfar, the Committee’s full-time City Project Planner and key contact and Lynn Morrow, the Committee’s Communication and Outreach Consultant. The Committee will be chaired by Ward 2 Councillor, Jeff Lehman.
